Ted & Jane's Camp Courage

Ted and Jane’s Camp Courage is an overnight camp for children and teens ages 6 -17 who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. We have planned the camp experience to be a fun-filled weekend, yet one which will help each camper to understand, express and share their feelings of grief.

Children who attend stay in cabins with others of similar age and same gender. Each child is assigned an adult “Buddy” who will provide a listening ear, careful supervision throughout the weekend and a friendly face at each activity. Registered nurses and counselors are also available on site at all times. Through a variety of guided activities, children will have an opportunity to express their grief. There will also be opportunities for the campers and Buddies to explore the many camp and sport activities. Learn more by downloading the 2014 Camp Courage flyer.

How much does it cost?
Thanks to the generous support of the Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation and donations from community members, there is no cost to the family for this camp experience.

Camp Courage for adults is an all day camp that runs concurrently with the children's camp. Adults focus on their own grief journey and how best to support their grieving child(ren).

Location
Both weekend camps are held at the Howell Conference & Nature Center, 1005 Triangle Lake Road Howell, MI.  Spaces are limited and early application is recommended.

Registration
Please refer to the Camper Application Process Guide to direct you in the completion of all forms. If you have more than one child attending camp, you will need forms for each child.

Volunteer
Volunteering in this camp is both a privilege and an honor to be a part of the lives of these children and their families. The kids you meet will inspire, teach, and most of all touch your heart.  It is a weekend full of fun, newfound friendships, challenges and incredible courage.
