Children rarely seem to get sick or injured during your doctor's regular office hours. Pediatric Emergency provides medical care for youngsters when your doctor is not available – especially in the evening, on weekends and holidays. Your doctor may also send you to Pediatric Emergency when your child may need more care than the doctor can provide in the office. This may include IVs, lab tests, x-rays and stitches.
Pediatric Emergency is staffed by board-certified pediatricians, nurses and technicians who have been specially trained in the care of illnesses and injuries of infants, children and adolescents up to the age of 21. Pediatric Emergency at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor works closely with pediatricians in the community. After treatment in Pediatric Emergency, children are referred back to their personal physicians for follow-up and routine care.
