If you were designing a teaching hospital, what would it look

Should you complete your residency in a program that
is similar to your future practice environment?
It makes sense. In the 2003 Graduation Survey conducted by the Association
of American Medical Colleges, 45 percent of last year's graduating class reported
that their career goal was full time clinical practice in a group practice of
three or more physicians. If your career goal is to join a group practice in
a medium sized city, it makes sense to consider St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in
Ann Arbor, Michigan for your residency.
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is a large, medically sophisticated teaching hospital
with a strong orientation to private group practice. High academic standards,
a tradition of academic excellence, a large volume and variety of clinical cases,
and a private practice environment provide an ideal combination for anyone considering
private group practice as a career goal.
How important is the hospital where you will complete
your residency?
Is it important to train in a hospital where quality of care is more than a
cliché, where patients are truly cared for, and where ethics and values
are an integral part of the institution, not just a statement hung on the wall
or a committee than meets once a month? How important is it to have colleagues
who are intelligent, interesting, committed, and highly competent? If training
in a great hospital is important to you, it makes sense to consider St. Joseph
Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan for your residency.
Looking for a great hospital to complete your residency?
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals
of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the group of 400 major
teaching hospitals that form the backbone of health care, medical education, and
medical research in the United States. St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is a member of
the Trinity Health, one of the largest Catholic Health Care Systems
in the United States. We are proud of our membership in these outstanding organizations,
and they say a lot about who we are as a hospital. But nothing communicates
who we are more than the patients who look to us for the best possible health
care, the talent, competence and credentials of our medical staff, or the commitment
of everyone here to our work, our values, and our community. If you want to
train in a great hospital, you could not make a better choice than St. Joseph
Mercy Hospital.
Is the community an important part of your residency decision?

If you were designing a teaching hospital, what would it
look like?

staff, and plenty of free parking? Would it be a place where you would be comfortable
going to work everyday? Would it be a place you would recommend to your family
if they needed health care? What about having the latest equipment and the best
staff - how important is that to you? Would it be a place where you know your
colleagues and where you are known by your name? If you were designing a teaching
hospital, chances are it would look a lot like St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in
Ann Arbor, Michigan. See for yourself what a great teaching hospital is like.
