The Trauma Program at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor has been an American College of Surgeons-verified
Level II Trauma Center since 1998. To maintain this verification, St. Joseph
Mercy Hospital continues to meet the comprehensive requirements of the American
College of Surgeons-Committee on Trauma, including 24-hour availability
of trauma-trained physicians and nurses, continuous availability of trauma emergency
care, operating rooms and OR staff, critical care, and radiology.
In addition, neurotrauma care and orthopaedic trauma care are promptly and
continuously available, along with other subspecialty care including Cardiothoracic
Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
and limb replantation.
The Trauma Program is involved in rigorous and ongoing multidisciplinary performance
improvement and educational activities to improve trauma care across the entire
continuum of patient care, from primary prevention through rehabilitation.
