Our Mission guides everything we do. As Saint Joseph Mercy Health System continues our healing ministry into the 21st century, we are called to both serve others and transform care delivery.  We reinvest our resources back into the community through new technologies, vital health services and access for everyone regardless of their circumstances.

We call our commitment "Community Benefit Ministry."

Community benefit is an organized and measured approach to meeting community health needs. It implies collaboration with a "community" to "benefit" its residents by improving health status and quality of life.

In 2015, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, Livingston and St. Mary Mercy Livonia participated in a Community Health Needs Assessment for Washtenaw, Livingston, Western Wayne and South Oakland County area to identify community perceptions of health concerns, barriers to access, gaps in service, health education, prevention services, vulnerable populations and social concerns. A plan was developed for addressing needs within the community. See our full reports:

Our health organization is involved in a wide array of community benefit activities and services that need to be categorized and explained - in detail - on the IRS form called "Form 990 Schedule H."
