Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Medical Education Program provides the best educational teaching for medical and PA students. The focus of instruction is always on student learning and the environment is inviting and pressure-free.
The teaching faculty is enthusiastic and also motivated by intrinsic rather than extrinsic goals. Each rotation has a clerkship director who serves as an advisor for the medical/PA students.
From the beginning, medical and PA students are apart of the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System team. Students are given the independence and responsibly to carry their own patients, enter orders, write H&Ps, and also present differential diagnoses. Students receive computer training involving online order entry, which gives them the ability to view test/lab results in order to perform procedures and interact with patients.
Students attend all major meetings and hospital wide conferences such as Grand Rounds, Basic Science Lectures, Death & Complication Conferences, Tumor Boards, etc.
Students receive free parking, lockers, scrubs, call rooms, and a generous food allowance. Students have access to our medical library 24-hours a day. Upon request, we also offer our students the opportunity to participate and/or present research projects, with one-on-one mentoring with our faculty and staff.
