Located on the campus of St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital, the Senior Health Clinic is committed to providing quality health care services to adults age 60 and over. We respect and value the aging process and strive to provide a level of care and service worthy of older adults. Our philosophy is to help you attain a good quality of life at every age. The aging process doesn't have to lead to sickness, memory loss, or personality changes. Many illnesses related to aging can be addressed and corrected, or at least improved.
Our team of health care professionals is interdisciplinary and includes board certified geriatric physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical social workers and other clinical staff who are specially trained in working with older adults. Our support and office staff is also competent in working with seniors and their adult family members.
We support family involvement in your care during your time with us. But we also respect your right to determine how much or how little you want your family included.
Consultations are for assessing specially identified concerns. During a consultation you would meet with a geriatric interdisciplinary team that may give you a cognitive or memory assessment, or evaluate your mood or medications, depending on your need. Your primary physician can request a consultation, but there are also times, when you or a family member may be interested in a second opinion and would request a consultation.
Primary care establishes an ongoing relationship with one of our physicians who will oversee your health care needs. Your primary care medical home physician will address your health concerns and, in some instances, refer you to appropriate specialists. Your primary care doctor will also provide routine care and urgent needs.
