Robert K. Cleary, MD Dr. Cleary, born in Royal Oak, Michigan, graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in 1979. He received his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1984, and completed his residency in General Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in 1989. A fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery followed at Parkland/Presbyterian Hospitals and was completed in 1992. Dr. Cleary is board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery as well as General Surgery in addition to being an Adjunct Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the University of Michigan. His special interests include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal disease, and minimally invasive surgery to include laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Cleary enjoys coaching and playing baseball, photography and spending time with his wife and six children.

John C. Eggenberger, MD Dr. Eggenberger, born in Detroit Michigan, completed his undergraduate studies and medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1985. He subsequently completed his residency at the University of Michigan as well. In 1992, he did a fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Eggenberger is board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery as well as General Surgery. His special interests include colon and rectal cancer, endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, and complicated diverticular bowel disease. Dr. Eggenberger enjoys U of M football, golf, exercising, reading and spending time with his family.

Richard A. Flanagan, Jr., MD Dr. Flanagan, born in Hazelton Pennsylvania, completed his undergraduate studies at Penn State University in Pennsylvania in 1973. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in1977. His residency and fellowship in Colon and Rectal surgery were both done at the Cleveland Clinic in 1986 and 1987 respectively. He served in the US Navy from 1977 to 1982. Dr Flanagan is board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery as well as General Surgery. He has special interest in laparoscopic colon surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic pouch procedures, and colon and rectal cancer. Dr. Flanagan enjoys fishing, travel and spending time with his family. |

Amalia J. Stefanou, MD Dr. Stefanou, born in Royal Oak, MI, completed her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her residency in General Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. She then went on to complete a Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County/University of Illinois Chicago in Chicago, IL. There she had the opportunity to learn advanced laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery, as well as management of complex anorectal disease. She is board eligible in 2013. Her special interests include laparoscopic surgery for colon and rectal cancer, pelvic floor disorders and pouch operations. Dr. Stefanou enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and traveling.
